Gutter Growth!

Keeping Your Gutters Clean is good preventative maintenance that should be done on a regular basis. Clogged gutters and downspouts that overflow can cause weather damage to your siding, damage your landscaping and even flood your foundation. What pools in your gutter will cause them to rust out early and they will need to be replaced a lot sooner. In areas of the country with a lot of rain and very large tress, gutter cleaning should be done at least twice. In other areas of the country, gutters should be cleaned as needed and check a minimum of once per year.

How to clean rain gutters?

The most basic idea behind gutter cleaning is to keep your gutters clear of debris. You can usually clean them out from a ladder or from the roof top. In most cases we suggest you use a ladder, especially if there is a steep pitch or a high roof. Having a ladder is usually less dangerous. When using a leaning ladder make use the ladder is level and set at a 75% angle or a 3 to 1 ratio to prevent slipping or falling off. You also want to use gloves and a bucket. If you want they also sell gutter cleaning rakes to help you extend your reach. For pine needles, it works best to scoop them out. For loose leaves, you may prefer to use a wet dry vac.For more innovative ideas please visit our site devoted to gutter cleaning.

As you clean your gutters, try to be especially careful not to let stuff fall in your down spout. If your downspout gets clogged, you want to get as much as you can out from the top as you can. You can use your fingers, a screwdriver or even a coat hanger to plus as much of the debris out as you can from the downspout. If it still clogged, the next step it to try and flush it down using water and a hose. Running water down a downspout is also a great way to make sure there is no clog. This works in most instances. The last step (if needed) is to take the gutter apart and shake what ever is stuck in there out.

What clogs these gutters or downspouts?

The most mysterious part of cleaning your gutter is finding out what clogs them. Most often clogs are caused by excess debris in the gutters. Overtime rain can wash pieces of roofing materials or moss into them. Sometimes squirrels throw nuts into them to clog them up. Some times dead animals like birds and rodents clog the gutter downspouts. Cleaning out really bad clogs may require a little bit of determination or a call to a gutter cleaning expert.

How will installing a gutter shield our helmet protect my gutter?

Most gutter shield and screen work well for leaves, but pine needles and moss still get through them. Most screen cut the rate of build up by 50% but up to 70%. The only downside to using them is that they are often expensive to install and if you gutter do need to be cleaned, they will be a bigger pain than not having them.

Another option for a safer, faster, cleaner, and much easier way to clean rain gutters is with the Gutter Clutter Buster Kit which needs NO LADDERS and allows the user to keep their feet planted firmly on the ground while cleaning those single story or higher gutters. Because the contaminated gutter debris is VACUUMED directly from your gutters into your wet/dry vac their is little potential for breathing in cotangents or pollen and NEVER touch the yucky, slimy, debris. What cold be better, short of someone else cleaning them for you? Its affordable, lightweight, and most of all MADE IN USA by a "mom and pop" company in Florida. Buy American!
