Cleaning Tile and Grout

Utilizing the right kind of tile grout cleaner is important to keep the tile and grout look their best and last much longer. When talking about cleaning grout and tile, there are many different tile and grout cleaners that you can choose from. Some are made of chemicals while some are organic cleaners. Tile cleaner also works well on grout. If you have difficulty taking out grout stain, you may opt to use a grout colorant or a grout paint to color the grout around the tile.

Usually, it will only take about 10 to 20 minutes to clean the tiles in a regular size room. If you found that the grout you worked on still has dingy and dark color, you could try utilizing stronger chemicals like bleach or Clorox to try to remove the grout stain. If this is ineffective, you could use a grout colorant or a grout pen to help you effectively get the job done. When using stronger chemicals, it is advisable to use gloves and protective glasses if you have one available to protect your skin and eyes from coming in contact with these chemicals.

It is important to use a grout cleaning tool or a brush for deeper grout cleaning. A sponge may not be enough to clean the grout’s surface because it is porous. You may also decide that it is a great idea to make your own grout paste. Making a paste is just very cheap because it can be made by just using some household cleaning materials and it is very effective. To make a scrubbing paste, you just simply mixed salt, baking soda, and small water together. After scrubbing the grout with this paste, you will be amazed of the results especially when it comes to brightening and lightening the tile grout. Grout paste is an effective tile and grout cleaner, cheap, and easy to use.

Choosing The Right Grout Cleaner

Tile and grout cleaner can come in organic or "green" varieties that are becoming quite popular for grout cleaning. But the more common household chemical cleaners are still on the market too, and have worked for generations. If you cannot find a product that meets your needs, there are several home recipes that have proven to be quite effective. One to consider is a paste made of baking soda, salt, and little bit of water. Most products can be used on both tile and grout. After you've chosen what type of cleaner to use you should start by protecting your hands with rubber gloves. Begin by cleaning the tile first with your product and a sponge. Once that is done to your satisfaction, you may begin cleaning grout. A toothbrush makes the perfect tool for the skinny grout lines. Grout is very porous so a sponge is not recommended. Sometimes stubborn stains take many applications. Be patient as the process may take awhile. If your grout still looks stained or dingy after several cleanings, you may want to try a mixture of 1 part bleach, and 3 parts water. Be careful to protect your skin and clothing when choosing to use chemical cleaners.
